So I was out walking the dog last night and as usual I end up browsing "reddit":http://reddit.com on my phone (not that smart/safe I know). Anyhow… I stumble upon this strip that really got me thinking of childhood dreams and how easily most of us end up letting go of those dreams.
Now don’t get me wrong I know we can’t all be “spacemen”, but we could and should maintain childhood dreams as a source of motivation toward our life goals. Life seldom (read: never) goes as planned, but then again we should "Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it":https://thinkexist.com/quotation/focus_on_the_journey-not_the_destination-joy_is/207647.html.
So we shouldn’t give up on our childhood dreams however unrealistic or unobtainable they may be. These dreams could just steer us on a journey we could never imagine. ...As for the rest of us? Who can’t really recollect any childhood dreams or aspirations? Wasn’t there a song (few years/ages ago) called Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) which went something like:
bq. …the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t…
I guess “interesting” would in this case be someone who isn’t afraid of changing “careers” and trying something new. This goes also for those of us who have dreams or life goals to “live by”. Reality doesn’t always live up to the dream so we shouldn’t be afraid of change (easy for me to say :S). Anyhow what I’m trying to say is that we shouldn’t let life lead us, we should lead life. Or something to that end … THE END.
