Too expensive to stay in Villa d'Este, so to visit for lunch/dinner can be magical too. Originally built in 1568 as a summer residence for Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, and in 1873 it was transformed into a luxury hotel surrounded by the 25 acres of its magnificent garden. But the next best thing... having a delicious lunch/dinner at the Veranda Restaurant which overlooks the lake and the gardens. Imy
