I have an idea for a nonprofit called "Homes for the Homeless" and I think it's possibly never been done before. The idea is to combine homeless shelter with animal shelter. The homes will house 4-15 people each, and many many animals including nontraditional pets like chickens, goats, llamas etc.But the emphasis will be mostly on cats and dogs. Anyways, the homeless people will be volunteers who get food and rent, in exchange for an agreement to care for the animals, maintaining the home and gardens etc. They will gain valuable job skills like animal grooming and bathing, horticulture, and business skills like selling agricultural products that they plant and adopting out animals. They may also learn things like pet first aid and living in a home will allow them the ability to search for jobs. @shannonkf
