Having an illness like stage 4 cancer really changes your outlook on life as well as your priorities and goals; That said, I have a green thumb. I dont know why but i can make just about anything grow....and recently i read a scientific journal that predicted that in 50 years the single most critical process on the planet will be finding enough food to feed the world's people. What I'd like to do is to build a small greenhouse that i could use to start an organic vegetable garden for the local elementary school here in Maiden, NC. I have the preliminary support of the principal and key faculty but lack the finances to be able to purchase a greenhouse that i could put behind the house and begin plantings that could be harvested over the winter and used by the cafeteria for kid's lunches as well as have seedlings ready for transplant into a larger school garden come spring. As i have over 12 kids in the immediate neighborhood who spend a good bit of after school time with me exploring creative arts as well as some of the sciences such as botany, rock collecting, and anything else i can squeeze into their heads while i have their attention. It's particularly rewarding to watch them learning important things without ever realizing that they are in an education setting...(hey, i'm sneaky but good!) It would be a great thing to leave behind both something educational, nutritious, and on-going for local kids living in an economically challenged area. Bennett
