I'm as guilty as the next person for blankly walking past homeless on the street. Sometimes we genuinely are in a hurry but quite often we are just too quick to judge and too scared of how others will judge us. I often take time to consider how that person actually ended up desperate, alone and living on the street as let's face it that's exactly how it is for them. Each and every one of them started life just as we did, someone's bundle of joy, but their train derailed at some point and more often than not through no fault of their own. I'm reluctant to give them cash but have been known to buy them a sandwich or cup of tea :) I just hope one day I'll pluck up the courage to have a conversation over that cup of tea and invest some of my time which we all know is so precious, to let that person's story be heard.
