Visit Big Bend National Park In Texas - Done!
How did it go down?
It was absolutely beautiful! We RVed in Terlingua, TX (between the National Park and State Park) for two weeks and were able to do everything we wanted at our leisure.
What made it possible? Any advice?
Being in our RV made it easy to have a nice base camp. If you want to be in the park, make sure you get your reservations as soon as possible (around 6 months ahead of time), especially if you're in a large rig. I recommend doing at least one hike in the Chisos mountains, doing the scenic drive to Elena Canyon, doing the balanced rock hike (make sure you go early in the day), and going to the Mexico border crossing to Boquillas. I also recommend going near a new moon, since that's the best time for stargazing. Also please note that the week from Christmas to New Year's is the busiest time of year at this park. We had no issues getting to any hikes in the morning, but the wait times at all of the restaurants were very long!
